We need evolution not a revolution ...![]() A revolution just reinvents the same system from another point of view (left or right), but an evolution evolves a world view enabling the species that is most adaptable to survive in an ever changing environment. Traditional Indigenous societies world view recognised human life as that of its primary role to care for the natural environment and all its living beings especially that which were not human. Totems connected and protected by assigning tribes to represent that of the animal/plant communities. The world view was one that had a healthy respect and care for mother earth and all her living beings. We live in an age of Climate Change, where the environment around us is ever changing, but revolutionary technology is not what will ensure future generations to survive an evolution of our current world paradigm is what is needed. We must not see our natural environment as trees to be sold as commodities but evolve to view them as shelter that keeps the earth’s temperature steady, as shelter for wildlife essential for biodiversity for pollination and seed germination to feed the living beings dependent on it. For our survival, we must evolve quickly enough to see our forests as protectors from severe droughts and absorb extreme and torrential rainfall and turn carbon dioxide into oxygen, so we can take breathe to ensure our survival. We must have an evolution, that views our sea creatures and oceans not as sources of unlimited fish supplies and protein or dumping grounds for our consumption dominated lifestyles of plastic by-products but as essential bio diverse ecosystems necessary to absorb the carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the atmosphere essential for life to continue. Yes, technology has a use we have technology that has given us renewable energy ready to utilise the natural sunlight, wind and wave power that will keep us out of the dark ages. But, this technology will help us fast track to evolve to live within our natural environment at peace with ourselves and that of our natural environment. Technology can help us evolve into the age of light supporting creative, resilient communities that are regenerative and restorative looking after one another as equals that share, as inequality creates scarcity and poverty , if there is equality there is no scarcity but shared access to clean air, water and soil for our survival - we need an evolution not a revolution … |
